Spetses is the “aromatic” island of the Saronic gulf due to its pine trees and aromatic herds. Only 50 nautical miles away from Athens, you can reach the island by ferry in approximately 2 or 2.5 hours or by car via Kosta shore at the Argolic gulf. Vehicles are not allowed on the island, and all transportation is conducted by sea-taxis, bikes, motor-bikes and traditional horse-drawn carriages. Spetses is a beautiful island worth visiting.
Hydra is the Island of Admirals and Artists. Looking like a rock inside the Saronic gulf, it has been a magnet for tourists since 1950. You can reach Hydra in 1.5 hours by ferry from Piraeus port. Stepping on the island is like stepping into a different atmosphere. Stone mansions, hidden yards full of flowers, narrow alleys and no cars! In Hydra you can travel around with either a marine taxi or with the cute donkeys that you will see near the port. The most it has to offer is tranquillity, beauty and balance.
Visit one of the most important archeological sites in Greek history listed in the UNESCO World Heritage, home to the Temple of Apollo, and stroll around Delphi Archeological Museum. Learn all about Greek mythology and history while seeing fascinating monuments, and visit the pretty town of Arachova on the journey back to Athens.
You can book ferry tickets to travel to the islands very easily with the FerryHopper app or visit the website online! You most likely will be leaving from Pireaus port :)
